Dallas restaurant announces plans for new eatery in Memorial City

Memorial City Mall will be getting Haywire in the not-too-distant future.

According to a news release from MetroNational — the Houston-based real estate investment, developement and management company — Dallas-based restaurant Haywire should open at Gateway Memorial City in summer 2024.

“We are excited to introduce Houstonians to this elevated southern experience,” said Danna Diamond, vice president of leasing at MetroNational. “Gateway Memorial City is the ideal location for Haywire’s Houston debut.”

Haywire is a restaurant concept “specializing in elevated southern fare.” Among its offerings are made dishes made “with farm-to-fork ingredients takes southern fare to a whole new level.”

Menu items include wagyu tomahawk ribeye, branding onion rings, mini elk tacos, chicken fried steak, TX whiskey barbecue ribs, chipotle chocolate layer cake and Route 66 Pecan Pie. The restaurant also features a rare whiskeys and an award-winning wine cellar.

There will be private and semi-private spaces varying by location, climate-controlled 15-foot tents, a ground level whiskey lounge, and an outdoor covered patio spaces that provide a front row seat to a rotating concert series.

The restaurant is developed by FB Society, a privately held company of innovative restaurants including Whiskey Cakes and Sixty Vines, currently owns and operates two other Haywire restaurants, one in Uptown Dallas and the original location in Plano. The Gateway at Memorial City will be the company’s first location in the Houston market.

“As a Texas-inspired restaurant with the mission to inspire the spirit of a true Texan in everyone, we wanted to find the perfect market within the state to expand the Haywire brand,” said Judd Fruia, vice president of operations at Haywire. “Memorial City has everything we’re looking for in a development partner – high foot traffic, accessibility, shopping, hotels, etc. We’re excited to become part of the community and introduce our larger-than-life concept and elevated farm-to-fork menu to Memorial City.”

Memorial City is a 300-acre mixed-used development located in the heart of west Houston and contains almost 10 million square feet of developed real estate incorporating a blend of Class A office space; retail, including the super-regional Memorial City Mall; high rise and midrise apartments including The McKinley; chef-inspired restaurants; upscale hotel accommodations including The Westin Memorial City and Hotel ZaZa Memorial City; the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, the second largest medical campus in the Houston Metropolitan area; and The Square and The Lawn at Memorial City, two state-of-the-art green space for events, concerts and festivals.
